Elementary Program
(grades 1-3)

Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Cortney and I will be directing the new Lower Elementary room this year. I currently live in Woodridge and grew up in the area, so I am excited to be teaching close to home! In 2005, I earned a bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. After college, I moved to Florida and began working for Sea World's excellent education department. During my time with Sea World, I was able to sharpen my teaching skills and also learn many new ways to teach and excite children about  science, animals, and the environment. I am thrilled to be sharing these skills with your children as we discover all the world has to offer them in accordance with Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy of  learning.  During my time at Sea World, I was asked to return to Illinois to teach with an amazing science enrichment program, Mad Science. Mad Science allowed me the opportunity to gain 100's of hours of classroom experience and taught me many different hands-on approaches to teaching.
By far, the most exciting part of my educational background has been studying and applying the Montessori method.  Last year I co-directed a Lower Elementary class at Lemont Montessori, which involved creating a new classroom and moving into a new facility during the school year.  I am elated and honored to be a part of Mi Sol Montessori, a wonderful and exciting program!  I am confident your child will thrive in the environment we are preparing for him or her right now.   I cannot wait to share my enthusiasm and knowledge with your children as we begin our journey through the elementary years.  I look forward to meeting everyone soon!
